Bringing Death Valley to Life as a Marine Natural Resource

  1. So I'm not the only one who thinks its a good idea!

I’ve often wondered about such a plan. I learned about an Israeli farmer who only had salty well water and decided to raise ocean shrimp in the middle of the desert. The bit of fresh water he needs is desalinated. Death Valley is home to some rare fish that live in the ground water that is fresh. So that is one critter that will protest. Anyway there is an example of Ocean water brought inland naturally in Guerrero Negro on the Mexican Baja Peninsula. It looks quite green from space anyway.

This is a great idea! Not only would it give permanent water resources, but it would absolutely aid in creating a cooling effect east of this massive ocean. Frankly it would strengthen the monsoon seasons Arizona gets in the summer, and Southern Nevada receives as well via the gulf of Mexico. Improving rainfall on the Colorado River would also happen… giving Lakes like Lake Mead, and Lake Powell a better shot at sustainability.

Elon Musk can use his new boring technology to create tunnels from offshore near San Diego to Death Valley. The inlet and possibly outlet as well, can be covered with graphene filter fabric that has mesh so fine it filters out pollutants and salt only allowing fresh water to enter. Now the new Fresh Water sea of Death Valley can solve the water problems of Southern California and create an entire new agricultural rich enconmy where nothing but desert existed before.

I firmly agreed with Kevin on the idea that even bringing in water from the Pacific Ocean which by the way is 25Xless salty than the Salton Sea.
And would aid in more water evaporates into the air more localized rain fall,an absolute boom to migratory birds, and if the sea was stocked with crustaceans like crab and lobster would make it unique and offer a considerable tourist draw.
Also there are lots of date farms in “Mecca,California. Which is right near the sea.and perhaps that would stimulate more investment in desalination in the shores of the Salton Sea with Pacific Ocean water comeing in from a tunnel
